Team XTR – Motorsport & Track Days

The 24 Hours of Le Mans (24 Heures du Mans) is the world’s oldest sports car race in endurance racing, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, Sarthe, France.

PK’s Chevrolet Corvette C6.R, driven by Mike Hezemans, Anthony Kumpen, Jos Menten and Kurt Mollekens, won what was probably the last Spa 24 Hours for GT1 machines this weekend.

Peugeot take top honors with a convincing 1-2 victory at circuit de la sarthe, Le Mans in France this afternoon. Once the first lap had been completed the HDi FAP diesel Peugeot’s lapped up the miles to pull away and cross the line with the top 3 cars in formation, albeit 1st, 2nd and 6th.

Thomas Enge brought home the 007 Lola Aston Martin in 4th place, whilst Jonny Cocker brought home the Drayson-Barwell Aston Martin Vantage in 33rd place (11th in LMGT2).

The Corvette number 63 came home in 15th place overall, taking the LMGT1 class win on its final outing.

First and Third for Manthey !!

No suprises that car Nr97 the Abt Sportsline Audi R8 LMS was up there in Second though.

2008 champions Manthey will be entering both the 911 GT3 Cup and the 911 GT3 RSR into this years ADAC ZURICH 24H at the Nurbuergring Nordschleife (21st May – 24th may 2009)  as it is not clear which car the new regulations will favour.

Its hotting up this year partly due to a regualtion change allowing GT3 and GT4 homologated cars to enter the race.

Audi will be competiting at the sharp end this year with 4 GT3 spec R8s and the V10 Audi R8 making its debut at the Grune Holle !

Watch out though other entrants are back with avengence too including the Raeder Motorsport with the Orange and White Gallardo and Zakspeed with the two monstrous Vipers.
